• An application for adoption must be filled out and approved.

• Adopters must be 18 years of age or older.

• Adopters must be in a permanent residence.

• This does not include hotels, motels, college dormitories or rental properties less than 6 months.

• If the adopter resides in housing which is rented, the adopter shall obtain permission from the landlord prior to the dog's placement and provide GSK9R with proof thereof.

• All adopted Shepherds must be spayed or neutered.

• Our adoption fee is $275.00 for dogs one (1) year and older and $250 for dogs over 8 yrs. Fees for puppies vary on an individual basis.

• The adoption fee allows us to continue helping other homeless dogs get adopted.

• We exist solely on donations which enable us to provide all vaccinations, fecals, heartworm testing, heartworm preventative, spay/neuters, etc. as well as training to all of the dogs in our rescue.

• GSK9R reserves the right to make inquiries and visit the dog at any time.

• Adopter shall not transfer the dog to any other person(s).

• If adopter determines that he/she no longer wants the Shepherd, the adopter shall return the dog to GSK9R.

• Good Shepherd K-9 Rescue reserves the right to approve or deny adoptions.

Adopters are required to have their existing pets current on vaccinations prior to adopting a Shepherd.

GSK9R will not adopt a puppy to a home where the puppy will be left alone for 4 hours or more. Shepherds that are found to be incompatible in the new home should be returned to GSK9R.

Refunds or exchanges will be at the discretion of the rescue.

Adopters must be willing to bring a German Shepherd dog into their home as a family member and not keep the dog outdoors in a doghouse overnight or for extended periods of time during the day.

The adopter shall not chain or tie the dog for an unreasonable period of time and never without adequate moving space and human supervision.

Adopters must be prepared to provide proper food and clean water, vaccinations and any other medical expenses along with daily exercise and TLC.

Every dog is put through temperament testing and obedience training while in foster care.

All "rescued" German Shepherds are taken to a veterinarian to be treated for any obvious medical condition, brought current on shots and spayed or neutered.

Each dog is placed in a loving foster home (or boarded if finances allow) until a foster home is available or a suitable permanent home can be found.

1.   An adoption application must be completed first.
2.   References will be checked and a home visit will be scheduled.
3.   Every effort will be made to approve an application as soon as possible.
4.   Some applications may take longer to process. You will be notified when that process has been completed.
5.   No holds will be placed on any dogs.
6.   The dog will be available for adoption until the final adoption agreement is completed.
7.   When a dog is selected, a meeting will be arranged between the adopter, the dog and the foster parents.
8.   All family members are encouraged to meet the dog before adoption to insure compatibility.
9.   Failure to take advantage of this pre-adoption meeting with all of the family could void a refund/exchange because of incompatibility.
10. GSK9R will advise adopters of the temperament and needs of the shepherd considered for adoption.

Thank you for considering one of our Shepherds for adoption!
